1.1 Ontario Service Centers construction kick-off anticipated in November 2009
On 27 October 2009, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) announced the signing of an interim agreement with a consortium, comprising Host International of Canada, HMSHost, Kilmer Van Nostrand, Clough, Harbour & Associates, Cubellis and Forum Leasehold Partners. The project entails the renovation and upgrading of 20 service centers on Highways 400 and 401 in Ontario, Canada. According to press releases from MTO, the existing centers are encumbered with operating leases; the majority is set to expire in the near-term. Construction work will commence at individual centers are old leases expire. Already, MTO has re-opened two centers following extensive renovation. In addition, another five facilities on Highway 401 are closed and undergoing renovation. The current contract includes these five centers, along with two additional centers.
The Phase I service centers include:
Bainsville (westbound), near the Quebec/Ontario border
Tilbury South (eastbound) between Windsor and Chatham Kent
Tilbury North (westbound) west of Chatham-Kent
West Lorne (westbound) west of London
Trenton North (westbound) west of Belleville
Dutton (eastbound) east of Chatham-Kent
Morrisburg (eastbound) east of Prescott
