HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania's plan to charge tolls on Interstate 80 has once again been dismissed by Washington.
This was the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's third application rejected by the Federal Highways Administration.
Federal rules require tolls on interstates to be dedicated to improvements on that highway. The state's plan, however, was more focused on revenue generation.
According to Reuters, Gov. Ed Rendell remarked that "in these issues the Bush administration was much more favorable."
