Fatal crash rate hits all-time low....
Whit more cars and truck on the road than ever, you might expect crash rates to climb. But according to recent figures from the U.S. Departement of Transportation, the fatal crash rate for large trucks fell to an all-time low in 2004, whit just 1.96 fatal crashes per 100 million vehicule-miles-traveled. It's the lowest rate measured in the 30 years since the DOT has tracked large truck crash data... There were 6.3 million more cars and trucks on the road in 2004 than the year before, but thanks to increased safety outreach, they may be learning to share the road more carefully...
